I've been snipping enough lettuce 1-2x's a week for 2.5 side salads, and the table is still going strong... With the table facing south, and the temps starting to go up, I think the table will need to be put to rest soon until the fall.
There are a few radishes left in the table, and I'll harvest them later this week.
Yesterday I snipped my first bit of cilantro which went into a batch of Slow-Cooked Steak Fajitas. Nom!

Woohoo! I can't wait for my lettuce and radishes to get going.
ReplyDeleteThose sliced radished look just divine. I love a good radish in my salad.
ReplyDeleteNice table lettuce :) I like that planting container and its decorative green top. As for radishes... one day I have to get over my reluctance to eat them. They look pretty though!
ReplyDeleteDaphne and Ottawa Gardener~ Those are French Breakfast radishes. I don't like the store bought radishes (too pungent/peppery), but these are really mild, and I'm glad I grew them. I may try them again this fall...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful harvest! That cilantro looks gigantic. What kind is it?
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I like your table growing setup. I'll have to check out your archives to find out about it. :) We're just sowing radishes now -- or supposed to be except the ground keeps freezing, LOL.
ReplyDeleteRachel~Cilantro was one of the seeds I bought a few packets of, so I only know it's a slow bolting variety... It does look big in that picture, but it's because I used a teeny "bar" or "citrus" cutting board.
ReplyDeleteMeredith~Here is a PDF with the Salad Table instructions. www.hgic.umd.edu/_media/documents/hg601.pdf
I was able to build it myself (although I cheated and had Lowes cut my boards for me). The instructions say a 2x4 is fine for the height of soil but I disagree, and later added the 2nd row of 2x4. As you can see, everything but my carrots are happy.
